Frequently Asked Questions

General Topics
What is Plato?
Plato is a games & chat app created to play multiplayer games instantly while chatting. We've also designed Plato as a development platform for creating multiplayer games in a chat environment.

Who is the team behind Plato?
We're a team of tech & games veterans who are passionate about connecting users through games. Our founding team created the original Yahoo! Games and built it to become the #1 games portal on the web.

Why create Plato?
We believe games is the perfect social glue and we feel there hasn't been an app that has combined both super well. We also wanted to create a safe haven for anyone who wants to play games on a pure level (without any pay-to-win schemes).

How are you different than what’s out there?

1. Plato is built from the ground up to support multiplayer games from day one.

2. We offer full turn-based and live multiplayer games.

3. All our games are playable within 1 app. Many other apps require you to download the games separately from the app stores.

4. We only create pure games - no pay-to-win or pay-to-play gimmicks. We believe that there's a substantial number of people out there that likes this fair play approach.

5. We don't require phone numbers, email or Facebook accounts. We believe your time and privacy are valuable.

6. We put a huge emphasis on speed & being frictionless. See #3 and #5 above.

What devices/platforms are Plato available on?
Plato is currently available as an open Beta on both Android & iOS platforms.

Leaderboards & Ratings
How do my game ratings work?
The game ratings on Plato are based on a 4 digit ELO ratings system (similar to ELO ratings in competitive Chess) Your ratings will increase or decrease in proportion to your opponents' ELO ratings at the end of each game.

How do the Leadeboards work?
Each game's Leaderboard is based on the players's ELO ratings for that particular game. The rankings are automatically updated each day.
